Last tango in Paris: hen parties and the city of lights
A girl's final soiree with her friends before heading down the aisle with the love of her life is an important one. It is a rite of passage that says farewell to singledom and welcomes in a new chapter in her life. So it's important to get the celebration right.
Whilst some people prefer a low-key night out in their home town or city, for others this doesn't go anywhere near marking the importance of the occasion. Somewhere like Paris (more info) on the other hand - a city of sophistication, elegance and class, is probably a bit more like it.
Images of grandness and prestige are conjured by the mere mention of Paris alone, and is for this reason that some thirty million people visit the French capital each year. So what does the ‘city of lights' have in store for hen parties ?
Well first of all, there is the issue of travel. Sure, you can fly into Charles de Gaulle airport and then sit on a train for an hour to the centre of the city. Or, you could travel in style on the Eurostar, which runs from London St. Pancras straight to the Gare du Nord in the heart of the French capital. Taking a mere two and a half hours, you can kick back, let loose and crack open a bottle or two of bubbly for the ride…you know you want to!
A Paris hen party to remember
Once you've checked into your hotel, the choice of the next move is really yours. You may want to engage in a little retail therapy first of all, in which case you're best heading to the Right Bank which is on the northern side of the River Seine and is where many of the city's trendiest boutiques are located. If you're in an arty mood, this area is where you can find the Louvre Museum , which is home to Da Vinci's masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.
Then you could head over to the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank, which is home to many inexpensive eateries, bars and nightclubs. The beauty of having a hen party (more info) in a city such as Paris, is that travel is so easy. It's a great city to walk around, but the underground Metro system makes moving travelling around a breeze…perfect for those on a time-restricted hen weekend !
